Positive Thinking-Get your week started off right!

Positive Thinking-

Proverbs 17:22 “A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.”

Have you ever sat back and just analyzed a person that is filled with bitterness and hate? They are always angry, nothing satisfies them, they have nothing nice to say..ever, and you can feel their presence when they are around but not in a good way. To top it all off, a lot of times you will find that they are battling some kind of sickness in one way or another all the time!

That is why it is so significant that you make an intentional effort to always see the brighter side of things. Sure, we are going to get discouraged, disappointed, defeated, and sad from time to time but what matters is what you do when those type of situations occur. A person that is always happy and cheerful regardless of what is going on in their lives is usually healthier mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically.

This scripture is pointing out that fact. It really boils down to the condition of your heart. Remember your heart has the ability to trick and deceive you. In Jeremiah 17:19 it states, “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” The Lord makes it plain to us how devious our hearts can really be. It is so important to have a pure heart filled with love, joy, and delight; it is literally like having medicine for your soul.

So what are some identifiers of a broken spirit?

·         Bitterness

·         Animosity

·         Anger

·         Unforgiveness

·         Malice

·         Jealousy

·         Hatred

Those are just a few of the many negative emotions that can be found in your heart which can have long lasting effects on your body emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. The good thing about identifying these traits in your life is that you can do something about them. Make the choice to have a healthier heart and hold yourself accountable to making those necessary changes.

Use this week to sift out any unfavorable characteristics that you know are creating a barrier between you and the Lord. Do not let the devil steal any bit of your joy because that is exactly what he wants to do. The fact of the matter is that we are going to fall into various trials and tribulations because the rain falls on the just and the unjust, Matthew 5:45. When you face the storms of life you want to make sure that you are hanging on to the joy that only the Lord can provide because that is where your strength will lie, Nehemiah 8:10. Remember, positive thinking creates positive changes!
