Positive Quote for the Week-Evaluate your character
“If you keep failing the same lesson over and over again, evaluate yourself. There may be characteristics lingering that need to be exposed and removed.” Erica Willis
Often times you will find yourself fighting the same battle over and over again with no end in sight. During those trials and tribulations take a moment to ask the Lord what lesson He is trying to teach you. He might be trying to sift out any unfavorable characteristics that are preventing you from living your life in complete freedom.
As Christians we are God’s vessels here on Earth and His will is that we live our lives representing Jesus Christ. That requires our characteristics to line up with the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 states, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
If you are displaying traits that do not line up with the fruit of God’s Spirit, He might be using your adversity to allow those attributes to be exposed so that they can be removed. We can never forget that we are all walking testimonies and every person that you come into contact with should be able to see the Lord’s light shining through you.
If you ever feel yourself distant from the Lord, evaluate yourself. Are you exhibiting character traits that are in direct opposition with the Word of God? Do you find it difficult to feel the presence of the Lord during your time in prayer or worship? The Holy Spirit is our Helper and He will lead us, guide us, and convict us when we veer off track. The thing is you have to be so in tune with Him that you can hear His still small voice.
Some Scriptures that you can meditate on pertaining to How the Lord’s views you:
- Psalm 139:13-14 “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. - Hebrews 13:18 “Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably.”
- Job 4:6 “Is not your reverence your confidence? And the integrity of your ways your hope?”
- Jude 1:22 “And on some have compassion, making a distinction.”
- 1 Corinthians 1:12 “For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
- Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
