The Spiritual Laws of God-The General Principles

Spiritual Laws-general principles

When referencing the Spiritual Laws of God I am talking about the rules and principles that are put in place by God that the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness must follow. There is no getting around it, they will not change and we either adhere to them or we don’t. They primarily have to do with the spiritual realm that we cannot physically see with the naked eye.

As we engage in these spiritual principles, they are either going to work for us or against us. The best reference to find this laid out simply in God’s word is in Deuteronomy 28:1-24, the Lord goes into great detail on the good things that happen when you diligently listen to the voice of God and on the flip side what happens when you don’t.

In order for you to understand how the spiritual realm operates, you have to get into the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth, John 16:13. He is the Author (2 Timothy 3:16) and the Interpreter (2 Peter 1:20-21) of the Bible so He is the One that will give you the understanding.

God’s Word is completely saturated with His spiritual rules and regulations that we need to know in order to triumph over the tactics of the devil. We have to do our part and study to show ourselves approved, 2 Timothy 2:15. The enemy that we are facing has a clear understanding of God’s laws and he is just waiting for an opportunity to use them against you.

The Apostle Paul gives us some powerful verses of Scripture that give us a clear understanding of the enemy that we are dealing with. Ephesians 6:12 states, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Here we can see that Paul is not referring to the physical world but instead he is talking about spiritual forces that are unseen. That is why we have to apply spiritual laws when dealing with the demonic realm because physical laws or material laws are not going to work against the enemy and his kingdom.

One of the main lies of the devil is to make us think that he doesn’t exist. That way he can wreak havoc in your life and remain undetected. How can you prevail against an opponent that you think is a fictional made up character? He will eat you up and spit you out!

There are so many Bible verses that inform us of the enemy that we are facing. God describes our adversary as a roaring lion, father or lies, prince of the air, serpent, angel of light, and so many more. The Lord would not spend so much time warning us about the enemy if he didn’t exist. That is why He is adamant about children of God exposing his devices, Ephesians 5:11.

The only way that we are going to have the advantage over the devil and his tactics is if we know what they are. When the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross at Calvary, He overcame the entire demonic kingdom making a spectacle of them openly, Colossians 2:14-15. He gave us the keys to the kingdom (Matthew 16:19) but we have to do our part.

I am so passionate about helping anyone that I can and that is why I have made it my mission to share the knowledge that I have learned over the years. If I can prevent even one person from going through the spiritual warfare and demonic oppression that I had to face, it is a win!

I am going to break down two of the Lord’s general principles when it comes to His spiritual laws:

Galatians

Galatians 6:7-8

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

In order to have an idea of exactly what the Apostle Paul is trying to convey in these passages of the Bible, I am going to highlight some other verses from the book of Galatians.

Works of the flesh

Galatians 5:19-21 “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Looking at all of these verses of Scripture out of Galatians we can dissect what the Lord is telling us through the Apostle Paul’s Epistle. God is basically letting us know that He does not play when it comes to following His Word. We can see the list of works that comes straight from our flesh that does not edify our lives or our temple (body) in any way. Remember we are not talking about natural laws but spiritual ones and the wages of sin is always going to be death and eternal spiritual separation from God.

He is definitively telling us that He will not be mocked; we cannot walk this Christian life with an attitude of active rebellion. Blatantly disobeying the law of God will lead to repercussions. That is why the Lord is specific when He states “…whatever a man sows, that he will also reap…”

You cannot be the kind of person that has anger, envy, selfish ambition, or jealousy stored up in your heart and expect the Lord to continually overlook it without any consequences. I know I have had to learn the spiritual law of reaping what you sow the hard way and trust me when I tell you the Lord knows how to make you sit down somewhere and take several seats!

We are all going to make the wrong choices in life it is inevitable, it is when you make a practice of your habitual sin that you will begin to get yourself in trouble. The good news is that God’s love and mercy gives us chances to repent and make things right with Him. He will analyze the attitude of your heart and that is what truly matters to Him.

You want to rely and the amazing gift of God, the Holy Spirit, our Helper to help you get your heart in check. He will bring Scriptures to your remembrance when you need them but He needs a Scriptural bank to be able to pull from. That is why it is significant to meditate on the Word of God day and night (Joshua 1:8) so that you can see the positive change in your own life.

Fruit of the Spirit

Galatians 5:22-25 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

The Lord calls these characteristics the fruit of the Sprit or the Holy Spirit and makes it known that having these personality traits will allow us to have eternal life. Within our own spiritual ability and our own efforts it would almost be impossible to maintain these positive attributes due to our sin nature. We have to continually be willing to renew our minds, Romans 12:2.

You will know that you are heading in the right direction when you get tested and pass. For instance: Say someone says something to you that rubs you the wrong way and before you would’ve been quick to snap back but now you hold your tongue. You understand that it just isn’t worth the unnecessary drama and the results that it will bring!

One thing I do is consistently ask the Holy Spirit to reveal anything in me that I need to work on and change. He will bring things to light and convict you when you’re veering off course. It is then up to you whether you heed to His voice or not.

Birds Flying

Proverbs 26:2

“As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.”

This Proverb was written by King Solomon and he was trying to get us to see that just like a bird wonders and doesn’t land, a curse that does not have a reason to affect you can’t. In other words if you are not doing something in your life that is opening up the door for the enemy to come in, he can’t.

If you are following the spiritual rules and regulations that the Lord established in His Word then the devil and his demons do not have the legal right to come into your life. On the other hand, if you are living your life like you want to not taking into consideration what God’s laws say, the enemy can gain the legal access to wreak havoc.

So, if you are going through heavy spiritual oppression and the enemy is shooting every fiery arrow in his arsenal with complete success, you have to analyze your life. Are you doing anything that is allowing the devil to have an entryway to kill, steal, and destroy? Remember, the spiritual law is telling us that a curse without a cause cannot land so something is permitting the enemy to have a foothold.

Our Heavenly Father makes it known to us that He wants us to have an abundant life so if something is preventing you from receiving the wonderful plan that God has for you; you need to find out what it is. As children of God we deserve every blessing that the Lord has promised us.

One of the mistakes that we often make is underestimating the sin of the heart; those are the hardest ones to detect because of how deceitful our hearts can be, Jeremiah 17:9. One clear indicator of the condition of your heart is how you speak.

The enemy knows that your heart is an easy target to establish strongholds. That is why the desire of your heart is so important to the Lord; He never looks at the outward appearance but will always examine your heart, 1 Samuel 16:7.

When you can gain an understanding of how spiritual warfare works, you will know that the enemy cannot just come into your life without reason. There has to be a cause (open door) that is allowing him to invade your space. Don’t think for a second that he isn’t lurking, the Bible tells us that he is roaming around like a lion seeking who he can devour, 1 Peter 5:8.

One of the main things that you want to do is evaluate your foundation:

Foundation built on the ROCK (Lord Jesus Christ)

Luke 6:47-48 “Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.”

In order to become unmovable when the storms of life come, because they will, you have to get into the Word of God, read it, study it, and apply it to your life. It is truly your double-edged Sword.

House with no foundation

Luke 6:49 “But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

A person that reads the Word of God but doesn’t take it seriously is left without a shelter. The enemy can see that you are not truly living on the Lord’s foundation and will take full advantage of your lack of covering.

Conclusion

One of the lessons that the Lord had to show me over and over again was that the more Word that I had in me the more freedom I would retain. The less Word that I had in me the more susceptible I was to the enemy’s attacks. Why? It is all about the renewal of your mind, Romans 12:2. God’s Word will give you the knowledge that you need to overcome the snares and wiles of the devil.

God’s spiritual rules, guidelines, and regulations are scattered throughout the Bible but you have to take the time out to read and apply them to your daily life. The Lord makes it clear that His people are destroyed because they lack knowledge, Hosea 4:6.

The two general principles that I went over are crucial to understand because it will help you gain freedom and remain free. Never let the devil make you think that you are too far gone to be saved, that is a lie straight from the pit of hell!
