Know Your Enemy-The Accuser of the Brethren

One of the biggest lies that the enemy uses on believers and non-believers alike is trying to make the World think that he does not exist. If you don’t think that you are up against a very powerful adversary that wants to completely destroy you then you have already lost the battle. He hides in plain sight and wreaks havoc in the lives of all of those that will let him.

His purpose is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10) and he will try to come into your life discretely and completely undetected. God’s Word reveals to us in Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” The Lord also discloses the fact that we are not to be ignorant of his devices, 2 Corinthians 2:11. The reason why these things are so imperative is because the devil will use your lack of knowledge to legally gain access to your life and cause complete chaos.

I know this first hand because I ignorantly opened many doors to the enemy which caused me to be so demonically oppressed that I didn’t know if I was going to make it through. I endured almost four years of complete torment until the Lord set me completely free. That is why I have made it my mission to make sure that I warn as many people that I can not to go down the path that I did.

We are up against powerful forces of evil that are extremely militant. The Word of God explains in Ephesians 6:12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

You are not wrestling against your spouse, your children, or your friends. The enemy has a way of using your loved ones to try to get you to do something that will allow him to come into your life like developing unforgiveness. One of the main things that you need to understand and realize is the fact that life is completely spiritual. That means that you need to learn to combat using spiritual weaponry.

One of the most potent spiritual weapons that you will ever have is your Holy Bible. Hebrews 4:12 discloses, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

God’s Word is an actual Sword in the spirit. Not only is it your double-edged sword but it is a Book of Law that you need to take very seriously. The Lord set up rules, stipulations and guidelines that both the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness need to abide by. There are repercussions that you will face for disobedience.

Joshua 1:8 details, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

Make no mistake about it; the devil knows the Word of God better than most Christians do. He will use the commandments of God against you any chance that he gets. He used the Lord’s Word against Jesus Christ in the hopes that He could cause Him to become disobedient. What the devil does is go before the Lord day and night with accusations against you. He knows that his time is short and wants to take as many people with him to the lake of fire as he can.

Let’s take a look at the New Testament passage out of the book of Revelation that discloses what it means to be an accuser of our brethren.

Revelation 12:10

“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”

Here we can see that John through the leading of the Holy Spirit is revealing to all of us some very key information. There is an accuser that goes before God day and night bringing cases against us when we break God’s Biblical law. The Lord takes His word seriously and in fact places it above even His own Name, Psalm 138:2.

So what the devil and his demonic kingdom will try to do is ensure that we break the Lord’s stipulations and guidelines so that he can invade our lives legally. Psalm 94:20 is very clear when it states, “Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have fellowship with You?” We can determine that the enemy gains a place or stronghold when we walk in fellowship with him.

One thing we need to understand is the fact that the devil knows your weaknesses and vulnerabilities. He is considered the ancient serpent or great dragon and was created way before man was. He knows exactly what to do to get us to come into agreement with his schemes and that is what places a lot of us into bondage.

Let’s take a closer look at the passage that I am highlighting Revelation 12:10. The word “accuser” being used here is the Greek word “katēgoreō” which means: of an extra-judicial accusation, before a judge: to make an accusation. As a Christian it is so important that you abide by what is written in the Word of God. When you don’t follow the Lord’s stipulations, the devil will use your disobedience to build a case against you when he goes before the Lord.

Just like there is a physical courtroom there is also a spiritual one in heaven, Daniel 7:10. God is the Judge (Isaiah 33:22) the devil is the persecutor (Revelation 12:10) and Jesus Christ is our Advocate (1 John 2:1). When we break the Biblical laws of God there are repercussions and depending on the law that you are breaking it will determine the severity of your consequences.

For instance before I became saved I drank to the point where I almost became a full blown alcoholic. The wages of sin is always death (Romans 6:23) and so I was drinking myself into an early grave and the alcohol would have eventually killed me. It wasn’t until I began to dabble into real spiritual things: receiving readings from psychics, dabbling in Reiki Mediation, and opening up my chakras that I found myself in some strong demonic oppression that was hard to break.

While sin is still sin, there are still levels to the severity of sin and the punishment that comes along with it, Romans 2:5-6. Just like in a court of law, depending on the crime that you committed that is what will determine your sentence. God sees everything so don’t ever think that He does not know what is going on. He is the only One that truly knows the condition of your heart.

Just because you have not received immediate punishment for being disobedient does not mean that it isn’t coming. 2 Peter 3:9 reveals to us, “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” God is longsuffering or slow to avenge because He does not want to see any of us in the lake of fire with the devil and his demons.

The best way to ensure that the accuser of our brothers is silenced pertaining to you is to follow the Lord’s Biblical law. Jesus made it so simple for us when He revealed in John 14:15, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” He died on the cross at Calvary which paid our entire sin debt wiping away all ordinances (bond against us by its decrees), reconciled us back to God the Father, and gave us the opportunity at eternal life. All He is asking us to do is to keep His commandments.

He loves us so much that He doesn’t want to see any of us under spiritual bondage at the hands of the devil. Unfortunately because of our own ignorance to the enemy’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11) we find ourselves going through so many things that could have been avoided if we were just obedient.

You best believe that Satan is ready to use anything that you say or do against you in front of the Judge (God the Father). If you are proven guilty there will be consequences, God will not go against His Word!

Conclusion

Whether you know it or not, you are up against a very powerful adversary that wants nothing more than to steal, kill, and destroy you by any means necessary. He stands in front of our Heavenly Father day and night bringing forth accusations against you. If you don’t read your Word you are already at an advantage because every Biblical rule and regulation is outlined in the Bible.

God is clear when He tells us that the Book of the Law should be mediated on day and night and that is for a reason. You won’t know if you are living upright in the eyes of the Lord if you don’t know the Scriptures. Satan is more than happy to keep you bound legally, don’t give him that satisfaction!
