Positive Quote for the Week: Not Everybody is for You
“Just because a person says that they have your back doesn’t mean that they truly do!” Erica Willis
One of the ways that we get ourselves into harmful situations is by easily trusting everyone. God is clear when He says in His Word that we are to test people’s fruit or in other words test to see if they truly are who they say they are. Matthew 7:16 states, “You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?”
We have been Blessed to have the free gift of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of born again believers. He will put a check in your spirit if the person that you are spending time with has ill intentions. That is why it is imperative that you ask the Spirit of God to reveal to you if there are people in your life that are not for you.
If a person is exhibiting negative characteristics you might want to take a step back before you continue developing a relationship with him or her. An example of an adverse trait is a person that insists on gossiping about people behind their back. They will tell you the tea about everyone without even thinking twice. If they are doing it to them, you best believe they will do it to you also.
Never forget that bad company can corrupt your good behavior, 1 Corinthians 15:33. It doesn’t matter how fruitful you are and how positive you are, a person’s character traits will rub off on you if you are around them long enough. It is never worth it, not everyone that says that they are for you truly is!
Scriptures about testing a person’s character
John 7:24 “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
1 Corinthians 15:33 “Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
1 Timothy 3:2 “A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach.”
Galatians 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”
Jude 1:19 “These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.”
