Positive Quote for the Week: Learn to Say No

“When you say no because you’re overwhelmed, it is telling those around you that you have boundaries and will establish them if you need to!” Erica Willis
Often times stress is minimized to something that you “just deal with” and we don’t take it as seriously as we should. It affects you mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually and if it is not handled correctly it can cause irreparable damage. One of the main ways that you can eliminate stress in your life is to learn to say no!
You cannot do everything all the time even when you try. When people rely on you at work, at home, or in any other area of your life, it can cause a considerable amount of strain. It’s ok to say no when you are already stretched really thin and the people that really care about you and have your best interests at heart will understand.
Some of the stress that we experience is self-inflicted because we put more on our plate than we can handle. Get to a place in your life where you know when enough is enough and be ok with it. This will eliminate so much of your anxiety but you have to learn to say no. After all, if you aren’t taking care of you, how can you be there for those that are important to you? It is so essential to know your limits and stick to them!
You will learn really quickly who is actually for you when you say “no” to them. Those that have your well-being in mind will understand why you said no in the first place. It is the people that are all about themselves and don’t really care that you are feeling overwhelmed if what you are tasked to do benefits them.
Scriptures regarding reducing stress:
Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.”
Psalm 34:4-5 “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.”
Psalm 18:2 “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”
Philippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
