Salvation Scriptures-There is no other Name

Salvation takes place when you confess with your mouth that you are a sinner and are in need of a Savior. It is imperative that you not only accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior but acknowledge that His death, burial, and resurrection completely paid for your sin debt in full allowing you to have the free gift of eternal life and salvation!

If the Lord had not followed through with sacrificing His life for you and me, the result would have been everlasting separation from God for the whole world. Now because of Christ we have hope that there is a life after this one for every believer, Jesus has already prepared a place for us, John 14:3. That is why it is so important to understand that there is only One Way to get to into heaven, One Way to have a relationship with the Heavenly Father, and One Way for salvation and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ, John 14:6.

Before the Lord Jesus Christ died as the perfect Sacrifice for all sin, we can see the process of atonement depicted in the Old Testament. Only the high priest had access to the Most Holy Place which was called the Holy of Holies where the blood of a perfect animal without spot or blemish was sprinkled on the ark of the covenant for the removal of sin.

This was done once a year by the High Priest to make atonement for his sins and for the sins of others. The moment that Jesus died, the veil separating the rest of the temple and the Holy of Holies was completely torn in two, Matthew 27:50-51.

This was an outward demonstration of the fact that God accepted the perfect sin offering which was His only Son. Jesus Christ gave up His life for you and me so that we can have the ability to be cleansed of all sin, live eternally in Heaven with our Heavenly Father, and have a personal relationship with God. His death allows us the freedom to not only communicate with God but to have the liberty to approach the throne boldly, Hebrews 4:16. What a tremendous Blessing that can never be taken for granted!

Let’s take a closer look at a New Testament passage of Scripture found in the book of Acts that reveals how powerful Jesus’ Name actually is!

Acts 4:12

“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

In the previous chapter we can see that Peter was moving in great power healing and preaching the word of God. He had just healed a lame man and he did it under the power of the Name of Jesus, Acts 3:6. This did not go very well with the priests, Sadducees, elders, and Scribes. These religious leaders end up locking him up for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins and eternal Salvation.

This leads us to the primary Bible verse of Scripture that I want to highlight spoken by the Apostle Peter. He was filled with the Holy Spirit and was speaking in the power of the Name of Jesus when he goes into detail of how the only Name that one can obtain salvation is through the Name of Jesus Christ. The word “salvation” being used is the Greek word sōtēriawhich means: salvation as the present possession of all true Christians.

It also means: future salvation, the sum of benefits and blessing which Christians, redeemed from all earthly ills, will enjoy after the visible return of Christ from heaven in the consummated and eternal kingdom of God. The word “name” being used is the Greek word onoma which means: professing and proclaiming Jesus’ Name. The words “be saved” being used is the Greek word sōzō which means: to make one a partaker of the salvation by Christ.

When we analyze the key words being used out of this verse of Scripture we can determine that Luke was making it plain regarding the only Name that can save a person from eternal separation from God. A person cannot obtain salvation simply by doing good works, being a “good person”, or performing a good deed.

The only way that a person is going to receive the great gift of salvation is by putting their faith in the Son of God Whose Name is Jesus Christ. When you allow Christ into your heart and become a born again believer you will not be ashamed to proclaim the Name of the Lord with boldness. You will yearn to be a partaker of Christ and what He stands for making sure that you do your best to live your new life upright in the eyes of God.

One notable sign that you are truly saved and that you are renewing your mind with the Word of God is that you will display the fruits of Holy Ghost. These are found in Galatians 5:22-23 and they are: love, peace, joy, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The bottom line is that there should be signs of your salvation and transformation inwardly and outwardly.

The boldness of Peter is an outward demonstration of the faith that He had in the finished work of Christ on the cross at Calvary. He knew that Jesus Christ died and rose again on the third day and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. His faith was so strong that he didn’t care if he lost his life preaching the Gospel of Christ because if he died he knew exactly where he would be for eternity.

The entire world will meet our amazing Savior one day as the Holy Bible details in Philippians 2:10-11 “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Now is the time to KNOW if you are on the right side of that face to face meeting, tomorrow is never guaranteed!
