God’s Preventive Remedy for Sickness and Disease

Where did sickness come from?

Before we can gain a clear understanding of how God’s Word prevents sickness and disease we need to know the origin of sickness and how it came into the World to begin with. Sickness and disease came into the World because of the original sin committed by Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Their direct disobedience to God’s command not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil resulted in illness and disease being introduced to all of humanity.

Genesis 3:2-3 is very specific when the Word of God discloses, “And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”

These Bible verses out of the Old Testament disclose the consequences of Adam and Eve’s disobedience, they shall surely die. Death was introduced to all of humanity through this act of defiance. The words “you die” being used here is the Hebrew word mûṯ which means: inflicted by God. This particular death is not just pertaining to physical death but it is also pertaining to spiritual death and separation from God.

From that moment on the human body was now susceptible to sickness, disease, and physical affliction. The devil’s main goal is to steal, kill, and destroy every one of us, John 10:10. He uses various diseases and all kinds of health issues to keep every child of God from moving forward. If you aren’t feeling 100 percent because of a health battle that you are facing you are barely going to have enough strength to pray for yourself let alone someone else.

The will of God is not for His children to live a life of sickness not fulfilling their ordained destiny. God wants you well, living an abundant and victorious life, John 10:10. The remedy for every single disease and sickness has been given to us in God’s Word. The problem is that we don’t spend the time to read, digest, and apply the Bible to our daily lives.

God is clear in Hosea 4:6 when it states, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” He is letting us know that we are destroyed because of a lack of knowledge (found in His Word) and the rejection of it. In other words, you hear the Word being told and explained to you, but you disregard it anyways.

The Lord always makes a way of escape. What we need to understand is that the love of God for us is so absolute that He gave His Only Son as the perfect sacrifice at the Cross at Calvary so that we could have the ability to live a victorious life overcoming sickness and disease. Let’s take a look at the passage of Scripture that discloses this reality found in the New Testament.

Colossians 2:14-15 reveals, “having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”

These passages of Scripture detail how the accusations that were against us were completely taken away because Jesus Christ paid for the entire sin debt on our behalf. It didn’t stop there, He also disarmed (despoil, disarm, strip off) the devil, every evil force, every unclean spirit and principality attached to his kingdom. Jesus Christ took away the power that sickness and disease had over us, but He did not remove the presence of it.

The finished work on the cross and the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for all of humanity gave us the ability to accept the free gift of salvation. Every single person that accepts this free gift is afforded all the amazing things that come with it: full health, healing, deliverance, protection, and provision.

The goal of every believer of Jesus Christ should be to walk in the full inheritance that He died for us to have, good health being one of them. We are put on this Earth for a purpose and it is to spread the good news (Gospel of the Kingdom) to every single person that you come into contact with. We are vessels on Earth with a goal to advance the Kingdom of God.

Matthew 28:19-20 is abundantly clear, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” This is called the Great Commission.

The thing is that it would be very difficult to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those that are around you if you are too sick to even get out of bed. That is why we know that this could not be God’s will for our lives. Our Heavenly Father loves us more than we could ever truly comprehend and we need to live our lives displaying the healing power of Jesus Christ even through the tough times that we will face.

Let’s take a look at some really powerful passages of Scripture that I want to point out found in the book of Psalms.

Psalms 34:19-22

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
He guards all his bones;
Not one of them is broken.
Evil shall slay the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.
The Lord redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.”

There is so much to unpack in these amazing promises given to us by the Lord written by King David. The part that I want to really point out is when David states, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.” The word afflictions being used means: evil, misery, distress, and injury which pretty much sums up all affliction. Then God is clear when David through the leading of the Holy Spirit says that the Lord delivers us from them “ALL”

He isn’t just taking care of some of them; God will deliver us from all of them. Then the Lord breaks it down even further when He states that no bone will be broken and that the ones that trust Him will not be condemned (held guilty or bear punishment). Those are some amazing promises and guarantees that we can take at face value.

The Lord wants every one of His children to live a long life with good health and has given us the tools that we need in order to do so. The unfortunate part about it is that a lot of Christians that stand on the Name of Jesus Christ don’t know His Word. So if you don’t know the Scriptures that disclose the Lord’s characteristics, individualities, what He expects from us, and His promises how can we truly know Him?

God is letting us know through these passages of Scripture out of God’s Word that He will deliver you from any disease, any sickness, any weakness, or infirmity that would ever come upon you. If you are living your life abiding by the Biblical rules and stipulations that the Lord has put in place for us then you should expect your healing to come, there should be absolutely no doubt in your mind.

Our Heavenly Father has already made it known that if you heed His voice, do the right thing, and keep His commandments, none of the diseases can be put upon you, Exodus 15:26. The unfortunate thing is that a lot of Christians do not take the Lord’s Biblical law seriously. Every single person is responsible for studying to show themselves approved, 2 Timothy 2:15.

So, because a lot of believers don’t take the time to read their Word, they are perishing because of a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6) and an ignorance to the devil’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11). One of the most used schemes of the enemy that stops your healing and breakthrough is willful sin. The enemy knows that it is almost impossible for a sick person to effectively function let alone advance the Kingdom of God.

His goal is to keep you filled with sickness and disease as long as he can. The way that he ensures our demise is by using our disobedience to God’s Word against us. As a result of your sin it has opened up the door to the devil and his kingdom to invade your space. He will use the fact that you don’t know your Word enough to understand how the spiritual realm operates to his full advantage.

So, what he will do is gather unclean spirits to wreak havoc in your life legally because of your lack of knowledge. Psalm 94:20 is explicitly clear on how the enemy’s kingdom form their destruction. It states, “Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have fellowship with You?” This passage of Scripture is the perfect example of how the devil’s kingdom forms their evil schemes and that is by law.

When you blatantly sin and break God’s laws that He had set in place for us, you are inviting death into your life. Romans 6:23 is very clear when Paul states, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Don’t risk the chance of living your life completely disobedient to the Biblical rules and stipulations that God has given us because the end result always leads to death.

Personal sin that a lot of Christians face is one of the number one reasons that the enemy has been given access to create chaos in our lives. We need to develop a clear understanding of how the Lord wants us to live our lives as believers. That way we won’t violate God’s principles and guidelines opening up doors to the enemy! God’s Spirit is the one that will guide us into all Truth bringing Scriptures to our remembrance when we need them, guiding us, and leading us in the right direction, John 14:26.

Conclusion

The Lord has already provided us with every preventative measure that we need to live a healthy life. The question is: when you face hard times, do you immediately begin to proclaim God’s Word or do you begin to search for the symptoms that you’re experiencing? What you do in the first 3o seconds of when you start to feel sick will determine the entire trajectory of your outcome.

Never underestimate that the Word of God is living, and powerful, and sharper than a double-edged Sword, Hebrews 4:12. It has the ability to destroy any virus, any disease, any illness, and anything else that comes against you. The problem is that a lot of us do not truly understand God’s promises found within the pages of our Bible. They are meant for every believer of Jesus Christ but it is our responsibility to get into our Word, study it, and apply it to our daily lives.
