Positive Quote for the Week-Praise Through the Storm

“Don’t let the storms of life prevent you from praising the Lord, praise Him through them!” Erica Willis

One of the most difficult things to do as Christians is praise and worship the Lord when the storms of life are threatening to take you out. You’re facing trial after trial, tribulation after tribulation and all the enemy has to do is take one more blow to knock you completely out. I have been there before and it is very challenging to get up enough strength let alone energy to utter any kind or praise or worship.

All you want to do in those moments is lock yourself in the room alone and never come out. The problem with that is that is exactly what the enemy wants you to do. He takes those negative emotions that you are feeling in that instant and he exacerbates them. He will take advantage of your vulnerability. I know what it feels like to have the enemy throw every arrow at you and have every single one of them hit!

I learned over the years that if you will put all of that pain, hurt, and agony into your praise; it will be released from you and given to the Lord. Matthew 11:28-30 states, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

We can see from these verses of Scripture that God wants us to give Him all of our problems, burdens, and stress and in exchange He will provide us with rest. We are all going to go through things in life whether you are a believer or a non-believer. The Word of God tells us that the rain will fall on the just and the unjust, Matthew 5:45.

What you do when you are faced with trying situations will make all the difference regarding the outcome of that circumstance. As Christians we have the power of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us to give us the strength that we need to persevere. Yes we will still go through things but God promises us that He will never leave us or forsake us, Deuteronomy 31:8.

Some other Scriptures that you can meditate regarding facing trials and tribulations are:

1 Peter 5:10 “But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.”

John 16:33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”

1 Peter 1:6 “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials.”

James 1:2-3 “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.”

Romans 8:35 “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”
