Positive Quote for the Week: Pray for those that Despitefully use You

Pray for those that use you

“Can you just imagine how your life would be if you learned how to love even your enemy?” Erica Willis

One of the most difficult things for any one of us to do is to pray for and truly love our enemies. The ones that want to do your wrong, they want to see you fail, and they can’t wait for the moment to talk behind your back. The thing is it is so important that we love on the ones that persecute and despitefully use us. The devil loves to use our enemies as an entry point so that he can get us to build up animosity, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, and hate.

Spiritual maturity says: I will forgive 70 times 7. Why? A spiritually mature person who’s walking with the Lord and knows His Word will know that the repercussions of developing those negative emotions in their heart is simply not worth it. The enemy is just waiting to use any opportunity to gain legal access into your life so that he can destroy it any way that he can. Unforgiveness will give him that access.

If you take a step back and think about how powerful it would be if you could release the control that one of your enemies has over you and you begin to pray for them. I mean genuinely pray for them. It is easy for us to have love for those that reciprocate that love right back. It can be extremely difficult to show kindness and compassion towards the people that mistreat and intentionally hurt you.

The thing is, as Christians have to be able to represent the Lord Jesus Christ in every situation. We are His representatives here on earth so it is vital that we try our best to have the heart of the Lord. That doesn’t mean that the person that is treating you badly without reason will not have to suffer consequences. The Lord is abundantly clear on this matter and makes it known that “…Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord, “Romans 12:19.  Trust and believe whatever one sows, that is exactly what they will reap, Galatians 6:7.

Scriptures on loving your enemy

Luke 6:35 “But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.”

Matthew 5:44 “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”

Luke 23:24 “Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do. “And they divided His garments and cast lots.”

Proverbs 24:17 “Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles.”
