Positive Quote for the Week: When in Doubt, Silence it Out
“One of the greatest devices that the enemy uses over and over again is our own mouths.” Erica Willis
One of the biggest weapons that the enemy loves to use against us is our own tongues. He will use the people around you get you to a place where you want to lash out. The problem with that is the fact your response is going to come from your emotions more than anything else. The enemy loves it when he can get you to get out of your character and show out.
God is very clear that He wants to be the one that decides the repercussions for anyone that is doing you wrong. Romans 12:19 discloses, “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.” As difficult as it may be you never want to take matters into your own hands when it comes to retaliation.
I learned this lesson the hard way and I had to get to a place with the Lord where I said I’m going to trust you to handle it in the way that you see fit. Trust and believe when He gets involved and handles your situation for you, the person that has done you dirty will wish they never had. God is a promise keeper so if He said He will handle it, He will.
It is then up to us whether or not we truly take His Word at face value. Many of us get caught up in situations that could have easily been avoided if we just leaned the key phrase: when in doubt, silence it out. Remaining silent prevents you from saying something that you can never take back that can have a long-term effect on the person on the receiving end!
Scriptures on watching your tongue
1 Peter 3:10 “For “He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.”
Colossians 4:6 “Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.”
Proverbs 10:19 “In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”
Proverbs 15:28 “The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.”
Matthew 15:11 “Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
