Proverbs scriptures that you need in your life right now!

Scriptures that you need in your life right now!

Proverbs is a book in the bible that is completely packed with wisdom and knowledge that is revealed through the Holy Spirit! It was written by King Solomon, a man that wanted nothing more from God than an understanding heart and wisdom to lead His people. It is no surprise that Proverbs will make you think twice about how you live your life as a Christian and if your heart posture is truly for the Lord. Anyone that wants insight, direction, and discipline when it comes to living for God would want to understand and dissect this powerful book. I have compiled some of the Scriptures out of Proverbs that I feel will benefit you in your life right now!

Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Someone that considers themselves wise is one that is always ready to learn regardless of how much knowledge they’ve previously obtained. They don’t carry a demeanor of arrogance and egotism thinking that they have already mastered everything that there is to know.  When you have the right heart posture you are able to receive the instruction that the Word of God gives you and apply it to your life. When Solomon talks about having a fear of the Lord it’s not in the same context as one having fear because you are scared or afraid of something. The type of fear that he is referring to is having a love, respect, and admiration for God that runs so deep that you don’t want to do anything to displease Him. The closer you become to the Lord the more real and important His Word becomes to you. It is knowledge that is irreplaceable and it will make the difference between physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual life and death.

Proverbs 10:2 “Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, But righteousness delivers from death.”

Just like the Lord can give His children treasures here on earth the devil can do the same thing for his children. When people attempt to gain wealth by means of wickedness like lying, cheating, stealing, performing witchcraft, voodoo, rituals, and many other wicked things one can do to obtain fortune it will profit them nothing. In fact, it is a sure way to find yourself heading down the road to death and destruction. You would be amazed at how many people choose to make pacts with Satan and his demons just so that they can acquire fame and riches not realizing that the after affects are devastating. The reason the Lord provides us with wisdom, knowledge, and spiritual laws that are permeated throughout His Word is so that we don’t fall victim to the enemy’s devices. It prevents us from doing things that are against the will of God which can cause diseases, mental illnesses, addictions, and even death. The devil knows that if he can persuade you to sin it will give him the legal right to wreak havoc in your life. Trust and believe that he is more than happy to take advantage of your lack of knowledge when it comes to his kingdom.

Proverbs 26:11 “As a dog returns to his vomit so a fool returns to his folly. “

When we are saved by the grace of the Almighty God we are afforded so many things as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ:

·         We are no longer on our way to Hell

·         We are no longer slaves to sin

·         We have the gift of the Holy Spirit living in us

·         We have the blessing of eternal life

·         We now have the ability to be reconnected to our Heavenly Father through Christ

·         We have the ability to draw strength from the Lord in times of need

·         We have the authority to stop the hand of the enemy on our lives

With all of the benefits that we receive because of what Christ did for us on the cross why would we ever go back to the sin that we were delivered from? This is the point that the Holy Spirit is making through this verse of scripture. He compares it to a dog wanting to go back to its own vomit. The Lord makes it even clearer when He states that a fool returns to his own folly or “ridiculous idea.” It is never worth it to allow yourself to get to a backslidden state, there is so much more available to a child of God than what the enemy has planned for your life.

Proverbs 3:5-7 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

This verse of scripture by far is one of the most difficult but necessary proverbs that most Christians struggle to fully comprehend. Often times we find it challenging to understand why the things in our lives are happening the way that they are. You don’t get the breakthrough you’ve been praying for, the healing you’re believing God for seems nonexistent, your finances are a mess, and your life is completely upside down and you can’t understand why! It can be disheartening, devastating, and it can feel like there is no hope. In these moments we have to get to the point where we can say no matter what we are experiencing good or bad we know that the Lord is using it for our good. The only way that one can exhibit that level of faith is by having complete and absolute Trust in the Lord with your entire heart. We are not always going to discern why God chooses to allow certain trials and tribulations to occur in our lives. His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts and when we can recognize that, it makes it that much easier to allow Him to direct our paths. He is the only One that knows the end from the beginning. So with that in mind we can rest assured that if we are walking in His will and listening to His Voice He will lead us in the right direction.

Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”

The Holy Spirit through Solomon is revealing to us the importance of surrounding yourself with people that will push you, strengthen you, and hold you accountable as a believer of Christ. In order for iron to be sharpened it requires a sharpening stone to rejuvenate it so that it can become sharp again. The Lord wants us to use this same concept described in this proverb when it comes to the people that you surround yourself with. As Christians we want to be in the company of others that will encourage, motivate, and inspire you to reach higher levels in Christ. That is why it is so significant to be cautious about who you keep in your inner circle. They are a direct reflection of who you are so if they are bitter, angry, gossipers, and carry animosity naturally those negative emotions will eventually rub off on you. Don’t let another person prevent you from living a life of integrity but instead be the example for those around you. You want to be the light in the midst of darkness and the positivity in an atmosphere of negativity. One key thing to remember is that there is always someone watching you even when you don’t realize it so you want to make sure that the Christ within you is always displayed.
