Salvation Scriptures-Anyone can receive Salvation

In order to understand the amazing gift of salvation you have to first comprehend the need of Salvation in the first place. Due to the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden sin entered into the world, Genesis 3:1-13. From that moment on there was a barrier between man and God because of the fact that sin separates us from God. Every person born after Adam and Eve was born with a sin nature, Psalm 51:5.

Romans 3:23 breaks it down plainly as the Apostle Paul states, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Then 2 Corinthians 5:21 details, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ paid the entire sin debt of all of humanity allowing those that believe in Him to receive Salvation and eternal life.

If the Lord had not followed through with sacrificing His life for you and me, the result would have been everlasting separation from God for the whole world. Now because of Christ we have hope that there is a life after this one for every believer, Jesus has already prepared a place for us, John 14:3. That is why it is so important to understand that there is only One Way to get to into heaven, One Way to have a relationship with the Heavenly Father, and One Way for salvation and that is through the Lord Jesus Christ, John 14:5-7.

Before Christ died as the perfect Sacrifice for all sin, we can see the process of atonement depicted in the Old Testament. Only the high priest had access to the Most Holy Place which was called the Holy of Holies where the blood of a perfect animal without spot or blemish was sprinkled on the ark of the covenant for the removal of sin.

This was done once a year by the High Priest to make atonement for his sins and for the sins of others. The moment that Jesus died, the veil separating the rest of the temple and the Holy of Holies was completely torn in two, Matthew 27:50-51.

This was an outward demonstration of the fact that God accepted the perfect sin offering which was His only Son. Jesus Christ gave up His life for you and me so that we can have the ability to be cleansed of all sin, live eternally in Heaven with our Heavenly Father, and have a personal relationship with God.

His death allows us the freedom to not only communicate with God but to have the liberty to approach the throne boldly, Hebrews 4:16. What a tremendous Blessing that can never be taken for granted! God does not discriminate or show partiality but in fact He is very clear when He states that anyone that calls on His Name can be saved.

Let’s take a look at a verse of Scripture that discloses this very thing.

Acts 2:21

“And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Before we get into this powerful passage of Scripture let’s take a look at some background content out of the book of Acts chapter two. As the Day of Pentecost had come, everyone was in the upper room waiting on the free gift of the Holy Spirit that Jesus told them to wait for. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit fell upon them like a mighty rushing wind.

The evidence of this flood of the Spirit of God was the various languages being spoken by all those that were filled. Every single one of them was not speaking in their own language but spoke the foreign languages of all of those around them. This was the outward evidence of the power of the Holy Spirit. Not only did the baptism of the Spirit of God give those that received an unknown language but it also gave all of those around the boldness to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

One thing that we know beyond a shadow of a doubt is the fact that the promise of the Holy Spirit is to ANYONE that believes in the Name of Jesus Christ. God does not show any favoritism and we can see that in the New Testament Scripture Romans 2:11 “For there is no partiality with God.” In fact one of the main goals for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was so that we can preach God’s Word with boldness saving as many people in the entire human race as we can, Acts 1:8.

The events of Pentecost that were displayed were a clear example of proclaiming the Word of God with confidence. The moment Peter received the Spirit of God; he began to preach the Gospel of Christ Jesus in an attempt to add souls to the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ died for every single one of us so that we could be saved from eternal separation from God, eternal death in hell fire, and so that we could live with Him for eternity.

As we dissect the primary text at hand found in the book of Acts we can see that the words “it shall come to pass” is the Greek word esomai which means: it will be. The word “whoever” being used here is the Greek word hos which means: who, that, and which. The words “shall be saved” being used here is the Greek word sōzō which means: to make one a partaker of the salvation by Christ.

The Word of the Lord is revealing some very important information in this passage of Scripture. God is letting us know that it is a fact that those that believe in the Name of Jesus Christ will become a partaker of the salvation that Jesus’ death afforded us to have. The main takeaway from this verse is the fact that it doesn’t matter who it is that calls on the Name of the Lord, they can be saved.

We can see that also revealed in the book of Romans 10:13 as Paul states, “For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” One thing that we need to remember is the importance that the Holy Ghost plays in the revelation of Jesus Christ and Who He is. He was so significant that the Lord commanded the disciples to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit in the upper room.

Why though? Not only does the Spirit of God guide us into absolute Truth (John 16:13) and bring Scriptures to our remembrance (John 14:26), but He also testifies to us Who Jesus Christ is. John 15:26 details, “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.” That is why He is vital when it comes to the life of a believer.

In these last days understanding Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the cross at Calvary for the forgiveness of your sins is going to be crucial. We need to have the right words to say when it comes to proclaiming God’s Word to all people regardless of their background. It is important that we clearly articulate Who Jesus of Nazareth is and why salvation is the difference between eternal life or eternal death!
