Salvation Scriptures-God sacrifices His only Son

We often hear the word salvation being used but what does salvation actually mean? Salvation takes place when you confess with your mouth that you are a sinner and are in need of a Savior. It is imperative that you not only accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior but acknowledge that His death, burial, and resurrection completely paid for your sin debt in full allowing you to have the free gift of eternal life and salvation!

Why do we need a savior in the first place? Due to the sin committed by Adam and Eve at the Garden of Eden disobeying a direct commandment by God, sin was introduced to the entire human race. We can find where this event took place in the Old Testament Genesis 3:1-7. This was a debt that could only be paid through the blood of a perfect sacrifice blemish free and One that was born with a sinless life.

That Sacrifice was made by God’s One and only Son Jesus Christ. God’s grace and mercy for His children afforded us to have a second chance at everlasting life with Him in heaven. Jesus came down from His throne and became fully man still fully God and operating through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is because of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection atoning for our entire sin debt that has given us the opportunity to wash our sins away and reconciling us back to our Heavenly Father.

God loved us so much that He wanted to ensure that we had a chance to be with Him eternally. That is why you can’t think of the word “love” and not think of the love of God. He gave up His only Son for us just in case we choose to follow Him. His love is absolute and there is no other love that can compare to God’s love. The offer of Salvation that has been afforded to us can never be taken for granted. Jesus Christ paid His own life so that we can have the chance at having ours for eternity.

That is why there is no other way that you can get into heaven but through Christ. Why? He is the One that became the sinless sacrifice without spot or blemish atoning for the sin debt that we could not pay. God’s Word is crystal clear in John 14:6 when it states, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Let’s take a look at the passage of Scripture that breaks down the sacrifice that God made for the whole world to have a chance at salvation.

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Breaking down this powerful passage of Scripture we can see the word “loved” being used is the Greek word agapaō which means: to love dearly. The words “only begotten” being used here is the Greek word monogenēswhich means: single of its kind, used of Christ and denotes the only begotten Son of God.

So what we can determine from these key words being used is that John is explaining to us the level of the act of love that God displayed for us. He is sacrificing His only Son Whom is one of a kind and there is no one like Him. He was sinless yet He died for our sins and He didn’t need to go through the pain that He went through yet He still chose to. The great love that Jesus has for us is indescribable!

Now let’s break down the last part of this verse of Scripture. The word “believes” being used is the Greek word pisteuō which means: used especially of the faith by which a man embraces Jesus, i. e. a conviction, full of joyful trust, that Jesus is the Messiah — the divinely appointed author of eternal salvation in God’s Kingdom, conjoined with obedience to Christ.

The word “perish” being used here is the Greek word apollymi which means: to incur the loss of true or eternal life; to be delivered up to eternal misery. The word “everlasting” being used is the Greek word aiōnios which means: without an end, never to cease.

What John was telling us through the leading of the Holy Spirit was the fact that children of God or in other words those that are believers of Jesus Christ are the ones that will have eternal life. The guarantee is that they will not experience separation from God eternally lost sent to an eternal misery. Jesus Christ is the way of salvation there is no other way.

The fact of the matter is that we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) that is why we are in need of a Savior. God’s Kingdom does not consist of sinners that have not repented and turned from the wicked things they used to do.

It is filled with born again believers of Jesus Christ that were on fire spreading the Gospel of Christ saving as many people as they could from a life of torment and separation from the love of God! Don’t let your own will and sin filled ways get in the way of you giving your life to Christ. Tomorrow is not guaranteed and today is the day of Salvation, 2 Corinthians 6:2!
