Tips for walking in Good Health-Keep God’s Word in your heart

Get Gods word in your heart

Proverbs 23:7

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.”

This powerful Old Testament passage of Scripture out of the book of Proverbs was written by King Solomon one of the wisest kings to ever live. He is disclosing some vital information that we need to get a hold of and that is what you think in your mind is what will marinate in your heart. This is extremely important when it comes to walking in good health.

When you begin to feel symptoms of sickness what is the first thought that you entertain? Do you begin to do a self-diagnosis to try to figure out what it is that could be wrong with you? Or, do you begin to proclaim the Word of God over your situation? What you do in those beginning moments will make all the difference.

That is why it is imperative that you begin to allow the Lord’s Word to saturate your heart and mind. How are you going to combat the lies of the enemy that will infiltrate your mind with the Scriptures if you have none to pull from? The Holy Spirit is the One that will guide and lead you in those circumstances giving you what the Word of God has to say about your situation, John 16:13. Your Scriptural memory bank cannot be on empty!

It is very easy for evil thoughts to creep into your head especially in those times of vulnerability like being faced with sickness or disease. That is why you have to ensure that you are continually renewing your mind with the Word of God, Romans 12:2. God calls the Bible the bread of life that He expects us to take daily (Matthew 6:11) but how many of us are actually doing that?

The more of the Lord’s Word that you consume, the more arsenal you will have to fight off the enemy when he comes because he will. You have to meditate on the Scriptures day and night, Joshua 1:8. God wants to make sure that we are prepared because the fact is that we are under spiritual warfare all day, every day. The enemy does not sleep and is dead set on killing, stealing, and destroying our lives, 1 Peter 5:8.

We have to allow God’s Word to get so deep in our hearts that they become a part of who we are. So when sickness or disease threatens to invade our bodies the first phrase that comes out of our mouth is to proclaim what God has to say about our circumstance. The Holy Scriptures should mold the way that we think, speak, and act; which in turn will have a positive effect on our overall health.

The bottom line is that Jesus Christ died on the cross at Calvary for us to have the power over sickness and disease. How are we then going to deny the blessings that He died for us to have which include good health and healing? The Lord Jesus triumphed over the devil and his demonic kingdom weakening the potency that sickness had over us. It is then up to us to walk in the authority that Jesus Christ died for us to have.

Let’s take a closer look at the primary passage of Scripture that I am highlighting out of the book of Proverbs. The words “he thinks” being used is the Hebrew word šāʿar which means: reckon, to calculate, as he has calculated in his soul, so is he. The words “in his heart” being used is the Hebrew word nep̄eš which means: soul, self, life, creature, person, appetite, mind, living being, desire, emotion, passion and seat of emotions and passions.

What we can conclude when we dissect these important key phrases is the fact that what you allow to marinate in your mind is going to directly affect your mind, will, and emotions. That is why it is so important that you meditate on the right things consistently. Our Bible is a double-Edged Sword that has the ability to change our entire situation but we have to learn how to use it effectively.

Our Heavenly Father has already set us up for success giving us the remedy to everything and anything that we will ever encounter. He has given us tactics on how we are to use our Sword successfully. The unfortunate thing is that a lot of Christians do not study God’s Word and so the enemy is having his way in our lives. God is clear that we are not supposed to be ignorant of his devices, 2 Corinthians 2:11.

One of the ways that he keeps believers of Jesus Christ bound is by sickness and disease. He knows that if we are not functioning at full capacity we will not be able to successfully promote the Kingdom of God. Having bouts of sickness also hinders our level of faith. We have to come to the decision that we are either going to believe God’s Word or we aren’t.

One of the best passages of Scripture that disclose God’s special protection is found in Psalm 91. It literally covers every single tactic and scheme that the enemy will try to use against you. Get that Psalm in your heart so deep that it becomes a natural part of your thought process. There are so many other verses of Scripture pertaining to healing and health that you can also meditate on.

The Word of God is like medicine to our bodies in times of need. Psalm 107:20 discloses to us, “He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” The Lord sent His Word so that we could be healed but a lot of times we don’t truly believe that in our heart. Allow the Word of God to completely renew your entire frame of mind including how you view God’s ability to heal and keep you in good health.

Conclusion

One of the tips that we can use to help us walk in good health is to keep God’s Word in your heart. It has to be your absolute final say regardless of what your situation looks like. God is not a man that lies nor is He in the business of lying, Numbers 23:19. If He said it in His Word then that means that He will do it.

It is really up to us if we hold God’s Word at face value or not. I know how difficult this can be especially when you are in those moments of dealing with sickness or disease but we have to make sure that we stand on the Word of God without wavering. If you are living your life by God’s standards and stipulations found in His Word then you are a candidate for the blessings that He has provided for you and that include good health and healing!
