Build Your Faith-Sharing Your Testimony

One thing is clear beyond a shadow of a doubt and that is that there is so much power in your personal testimony! People can debate and do debate the Word of God all day long but one thing nobody can take away from you your unique story of how the Lord came into your life and completely transformed it.

When you share your powerful testimony with others it gives them hope knowing that if He did it for you He can do it for them. As a child of God you want to tell others about God’s goodness, God’s mercy, and God’s grace. You will find that people know who the Lord is but don’t truly understand the power of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.

All Bible verses are filled with necessary information, stipulations, strategies, and promises given by the Lord. The life-changing power of the gospel (good news) is undeniable.  God’s Word is clear in John 8:31-32 when Jesus Christ reveals “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

He we are given a promise directly from the Lord telling us that if we abide (not depart, to continue) in His Word we will be set free. What an amazing guarantee that we are given and it is an assurance that we can give to others as we share our testimonies. If they live their lives the ways God requires in His Word they can get set free just like you did.

Our testaments are such a powerful tool to bring people to Jesus Christ because it displays the faithfulness of God. The best witness to have is when your own testimony is displayed right before people’s own eyes. They knew the person that you were before you met Jesus Christ versus the person that you are after you became a child of God. Your life is a testimony in itself.

Let’s reference the miraculous healing of the blind man that the Lord healed and he received his sight.

John 9:10-11 depicts, “Therefore they said to him, “How were your eyes opened?”

He answered and said, “A Man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received sight.”

Here we can see the miraculous moment that a man received his sight after being healed by Jesus Christ. This remarkable story and testimony was undeniable, those that knew the man could not deny the fact that he was once blind and was now able to see. Then we see how the healed man gives his testimonies to those around him.

John 9:25 details, “He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”

The man who was just an ordinary person like you and me gives his great testimony of the fact that he was once blind and could now see. It didn’t matter what anybody had to say to him or what they thought about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the bottom line was something drastically changed in this man’s life and not one person could deny it!

So how does sharing your testimony build your faith?

When you share your personal experiences of how the Lord has radically changed your life, it is a reminder of God intervening in distinctive times in your life. It helps you build your faith because you know that if God did it for you then He will do it again. God tells us in Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

The key word in this passage of Scripture is the word “ALL” which tells us that there is nothing impossible when you take that step of faith. So when you are faced with trials, tribulations, and tough times you can stand on the promises of God remembering what He did for you before knowing that He will do it again, and again, and again.

Often times what happens is we forget the dark and difficult places that the power of God, the love of God and the grace of God has brought us out of. One of the most simple ways that you can ensure that you note all of the times that God has brought you out of something is to get a piece of paper and write down everything.

Periodically reflect on those trying times that you have had throughout your whole life and mark each testimony point that stands out to you. This is your own story that can change the lives of others in a way that is undisputable. People want to hear about the testimonies of God and how real He truly is. Your faith in Him will be established in the process.

I share my personal testimony as often as I can and have taken parts of my story and shared them in “spoken words” that the Lord has used in mighty ways. When the glory of God fills the room as you share intimate details about His power, there is no better feeling. The body of Christ needs to share their story with others as often as they can.

This next passage of Scripture reiterates the necessity of sharing your testimony.

Revelation 12:11

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

Here we can see that John on the island of Patmos is giving us some vital information when it comes to overcoming the schemes of the devil. He discloses how significant our testimony is. What better way to show that our powerful adversary is a defeated foe than to share how the great Power of God snatched you out of his grip; restored, renewed, and made you whole.

The power of your testimony is often underestimated but we can see by this passage of Scripture that it is one of the ways that we can overcome the schemes of the enemy. One thing that nobody can take away from you is your witness of what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for you. What a way to build your faith than to see the work of God and His Word being played out in your life in real time!

We all get discouraged; I know I have. In those difficult moments I look back at my life and reflect on how much Jesus truly loves me and it helps build my faith back to where it needs to be. Don’t allow yourself to ever forget the things that the Lord has done for you regardless of how big of small you might think they are. The fact that you are saved by the great grace of God is a miracle in itself, Romans 1:16.

The last important thing to remember pertaining to this verse of Scripture is what our testimony is doing for others. It is simply our proclamation of the fact that we overcome Satan when we testify personally of what the blood of the Lamb has done for us and tying it in with the Word of God. When you confirm that God means what He says and says what He means in His Word, it is one of the most powerful things that you can do.

Conclusion

Your personal testimony is just that, your testimony. There is not one person that can take it away from you, refute it, or say that it did not happen. People debate the Word of God all day long but when you testify that you were once lost on your way to hell before you met the Lord and now you are someone completely unrecognizable, that cannot be contested.

God does not want you to keep Him to yourself! Share with others what He has done for you and continues to do in your life. Your faith will be built in a tremendous way because as you are sharing with others you are also reflecting!
