Positive Quote for the Week-Strive to Maintain a Merry Heart

“Harboring bitterness and hatred in your heart is detrimental for your health. A cheerful heart brings forth life!” Erica Willis

One of the worst things that you can have stored in your heart is bitterness and hate. The Word of God is extremely clear about maintaining a merry heart. Proverbs 17:22 discloses, “A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones.”
The Lord is revealing to us in this passage of Scripture that having a cheerful heart is like taking medicine. Then He exposes what happens to a person that has a heart contrary to a joyful one, it will dry their bones.

Have you ever sat back and just analyzed a person that is filled with bitterness and hate? They are always angry, nothing satisfies them, they have nothing nice to say..ever, and you can feel their presence when they are around but not in a good way. To top it all off, a lot of times you will find that they are battling some kind of sickness in one way or another all the time!

That is why it is so significant that you make an intentional effort to always see the brighter side of things. Sure, we are going to get discouraged, disappointed, defeated, and sad from time to time but what matters is what you do when those type of situations occur. A person that is always happy and cheerful regardless of what is going on in their lives is usually healthier mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically.

Scriptures pertaining to happiness:

Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!”

Isaiah 12:3 “Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.”

Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
