Positive Quote for the Week-Let Go!
“Let go of the animosity built up inside you, it is not worth the damage that it will create. Let it go!” Erica Willis
One of the worst things that you can do is let animosity build up inside you. The anger, the bitterness, the resentment will literally eat you up alive! It is one of the enemy’s greatest weapons and he uses it on believers of Jesus Christ over and over again. Why? Because we lack the spiritual knowledge to understand how his kingdom works.
So we let our family, friends, co-workers, and church cause us to build up animosity so deep that it will prevent us from living a victorious life. We have to gain the understanding that our battle is not flesh and blood but it is with a kingdom that we cannot see with the naked eye.
What that means is that you are wasting your time arguing with people when you should be spending that time fighting in your prayer closet. That is where the battle is won. The people that are coming at you sideways are being influenced by demonic entities that are causing them to wreak havoc in your life.
The devil knows that if he can keep you distracted, consumed in your deep animosity it will prevent you from serving God. You can’t pray like you want to, be filled with joy like your supposed to, or be fully surrendered to the Lord like you should if you are filled with hate and bitterness.
If we can recognize that the repercussions are so much greater when we hold onto animosity we would let that emotion go. Don’t let the devil lie to you and make you believe that you can’t change or it’s ok to hang onto that resentment. The devil is a liar and the father of lies.
He will make you feel so comfortable with those demonic characteristics that you will begin to normalize them. Before you know it you’ve missed blessings that you should have received, your intimacy with the Lord has become non-existent, and your prayers will not be answered. It is not worth it!
The takeaway from this quote: Animosity is one of the most damaging emotions because of how it can affect your spirit. When you let go of those negative feelings, you are allowing yourself to now have room for love, happiness, and affection in your heart. Learn to truly forgive!
Some Scriptures that you can meditate on regarding animosity are:
- Proverbs 19:11 “The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger,
And his glory is to overlook a transgression.” - Luke 6:31 “And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.”
- Psalm 4:4 “Be angry, and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Selah”
- Ephesians 4:30-31 “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.”
- Ephesians 4:26-27 “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.”
- 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”
- Mark 11:25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”
- Leviticus 19:18 “You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.”
- Hebrews 12:15 “looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.”
- James 3:14-15 “But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.”
