Positive Thinking-Get Your Week Started Off Right!

Positive Thinking-

This Week’s Message: Don’t Quit Before Your Breakthrough!

It is easy to live your life carefree when everything is going right: your marriage has never been better, the kids aren’t causing any problems, and your funds are looking better than they have in a long time. But, what happens when you are faced with the turbulent storms of life, the trials and tribulations that threaten to take you out? It is challenging to wait on the Lord’s timing when you have no idea what the time line is and you have no indication of when things are going to turn around in your favor. Not only is it nerve-wracking but it can also test your faith.

What do you do when the sickness won’t go away, or your marriage is on the road to divorce, or you’re on the verge of losing everything that you have!? You’ve cried, you’ve prayed, you’ve gotten on your face before the Lord and there is still no breakthrough! What do you do when you get out of this and then here comes that and there is no relief in sight! To say that these kinds of trials and adversities test your faith is an understatement.

I have been in that very scenario on multiple occasions. Moments when I felt like I literally was not going to make it to see the light of day, but God. One common factor that remained consistent through every storm that I have ever had to endure was the Lord right by my side giving me the strength to make it through.

When you have seen how the Lord helps you overcome time and time again, you have no reason to doubt that He will do it again. His Word tells us that His strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9) so no matter what  your situation looks like He is going to give you the power to make it through.

What ends up happening to some of us is that we give up before we receive our breakthrough. Our circumstances are far too much for us to bear and we begin to lose hope, we backslide, and we begin to blame God for what’s happening. What we should be doing in moments like these is relying on the Word of God, maintaining faith, praying, fasting, and trusting that the Lord can do ALL things, Ephesians 3:20!

This week take some time out of each day to reflect on how you handle the storms of life when they come your way. Do you draw near to the Lord for strength, or do you quit before your breakthrough? I am going to provide you with some verses of Scripture that you can meditate on that will help you in regards to persevering till you receive your breakthrough!

romans (1)

Romans 8:28

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

This passage of Scripture was written by the Apostle Paul to the Church in Rome. He is giving them a message of encouragement letting them know that ALL things work together for good with two stipulations: those who love God and those that are called according to His purpose. This means he is speaking to believers of Jesus Christ. If you are a Christian, you are called according to God’s purpose to do His will here on earth.

If you are in that category the Lord is making it clear to you that everything that happens in your life will work itself out for your good. That includes, pain, heartache, trial, adversity, and everything in between. We have to get to the point where we take God’s Word at face value. If you believe the Bible is the absolute Truth, then you need to stand firm on every Word embedded in the Scriptures. God takes the inspired Word seriously going as far as placing it above His own Name, Psalm 138:2.

I know when I was going through the most difficult storm that I have ever had to face and I was getting attacked by the enemy with no end in sight, it worked out in my favor. Even though I almost gave up hope and there were times when I didn’t know if I was going to make it, the Lord gave me the strength that I needed to endure. The end result was me being on fire for God and that flame just continues to grow till this day.

The bottom line is the rain is going to fall on the just and the unjust, Matthew 5:45. Whether you are a believer or a non-believer you will experience hardship in your life. When that happens do you lean on the Lord to be your help in times of trouble (Psalm 46:1), or do you give up before you reach the joy that the Lord promises that you will receive (Psalm 30:5)?

Psalms (1)

Psalm 34:17

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.”

Psalm 34 was written by King David when he was facing adversity at the hands of Abimelech. The situation was so extreme that David had to pretend that he had gone mad (insane) so that Abimelech would let him go. This beautiful Psalm was a song made for the Lord praising Him for delivering him out of the hands of his enemy.

The verse that I am highlighting here is making it clear to us that the Lord hears our cries and our pleas. He knows when we are in need of His strength and protection. It doesn’t matter how severe your situation is, He can bring you out of it. It may not be exactly when you want Him to but if you keep pressing forward, you will receive your breakthrough.

So many people just give up. They quit believing that God can make a way where there is no way (Isaiah 43:16), that He is the light in the midst of your darkness (John 1:5), and that He will walk with you through the fire so that you do not get burned (Isaiah 43:2). When you allow the Lord’s Word to saturate your heart and mind, it will transform the way that you think, Romans 12:2. The Lord’s promises will begin to manifest in your life which will naturally increase your faith that God is Who He says He is.

We have to understand that things are going to get hard; we are fighting a daily spiritual battle against an enemy that we cannot see. He wants nothing more than to steal, kill, and destroy every single one of us. He will use any opportunity that he can in order to accomplish his mission, John 10:10. But remember, He that is in you is always going to be greater than anyone or anything that you will ever have to face, 1 John 4:4.

When I was under severe demonic oppression, it wasn’t something that I overcame in an instant the moment that I got saved. It took almost four years for me to break free from the Spiritual attacks that I was enduring. The Lord taught me such a valuable lesson through everything that I went through and that was that I could trust Him. No matter what, He had my back! He had me in the palm of His hand and He never let me go! He loves us more than we will ever know!

John 16:33

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

There is no doubt about it, we are all going to go through tribulation throughout our lives. In fact, at this very moment you are probably either coming out of a storm, going into a storm, or about to endure a storm. It is inevitable! If you are a child of God, you will face trials that are meant to grow your faith, mature you spiritually, and allow you to build your trust in the Lord.

In this passage of Scripture we can see that John through the leading of the Holy Spirit is letting us know that we are in fact going to experience turmoil. Life is not always going to go as planned and things will happen that will leave us questioning why. The Lord is letting us know that we can rest in the peace of God that will surpass your understanding, Philippians 4:7. It is a strength that can only be provided by the Lord.

Jesus completely overcame the world when He died and rose again fulfilling the payment for every one of our sins. As believers of Christ we don’t have to worry about where we are going when we leave this earth. Because of what the Lord did for us on the cross at Calvary, we are afforded the ability to live an eternal life with our Heavenly Father.

When you are going through difficult moments that feel like they are going to take you out, take a step back and analyze your life. The fact that you had the ability to wake up to see another day means that you still have purpose. Don’t allow the devil to make you feel like you are not coming out of your situation regardless of how terrible it may seem.

The Lord promises us that things will not last always, Psalm 30:5 expresses that “…Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning.” Don’t give up before you receive your breakthrough. It will be difficult; you are going to go through some things that threaten to entirely consume you. The Word of God tells us to fight the good fight of faith, 1 Timothy 6:12.

When I was going through some very heavy attacks from the enemy, there were moments that I wanted to throw in the towel and give up. There were times when I questioned God and wondered why I had to go through so much but His answer to me was always “…My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness…” 2 Corinthians 12:9.

I would soon begin to understand exactly what that meant. As I started to lean on His Word, lean on the Holy Spirit to guide me to my victory, and lean on prayer; strength began to develop that I didn’t even know that I had. It made me into the bold, fearless, and courageous warrior for Christ that I am today!

Conclusion

Take some time out of every day this week to reflect on how you deal with the storms of life. Do you stand firm on the Word of God knowing that it is the absolute truth? Do you lean on the Lord to provide you with the strength to make it through?  Do you give up before your breakthrough? These are important questions that you want to ask yourself and answer honestly.

The fact of the matter is we are all going to go through trials and tribulations in our lives there is no way of getting around it. It really boils down to how you handle those situations when they occur because that is what is going to build your faith or tear it completely down!
