Positive Quote for the Week-Hold yourself to God’s standards

“It is one thing to read the Bible, but it’s an entirely different thing to live your life according to the Bible!” Erica Willis

As children of God, we were made in His image and bought with an expensive price. The Lord gave His only Son so that we would have the opportunity to have eternal life, John 3:16. That being said, He doesn’t expect us to live our lives just any kind of way. We are to hold ourselves to a high standard because we are His vessels here on Earth.

We want to make sure that we exhibit His characteristics to the best of our abilities. Some of the most powerful Scriptures that you can lean on when you’re not sure what traits God wants you to display are found in the book of Galatians. Paul writes, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law,” Galatians 5:22-23.

Every single characteristic found in these two passages are contrary to the emotions you feel when you are filled with anger, animosity, bitterness, or resentment. The Holy Spirit will steer you in the right direction when it comes to radiating the love of Jesus Christ to everyone around you. In order for Him to do that, your communication with Him has to remain solid. Don’t allow anything to get in the way of that including adverse emotions stored up in your heart.

Scriptures on God’s Character:

1 John 4:8 “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

1 John 1:5 “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.”

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Psalm 30:5 “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
