Spiritual Oppression: The Dangers of Open Doors to the Enemy-Part 5

Open doors through the Occult and Occult practices (continued):

Why is involving yourself with the occult and occult practices so dangerous?

The reason why it is so dangerous to have any association with the occult or occult practices is because it will open the door to some powerful demonic spirits with strong demonic influence. These are not what you call low-level “familiar spirits” that you are messing with. They are a higher level and a more potent class of unclean spirits. You do not want to invite these evil spiritual forces into your life to kill, steal, and destroy, John 10:10.

Once you give them the legal right, it gives the enemy access to invade your space and they can be difficult to get rid of. The best way to ensure that you don’t ever have to deal with this level of demonic activity is to stay away from it all together. It is not worth it to open that door because you’re curious, you want to learn about spiritual things, or you are seeking to gain wealth, fame, or control. Dabbling in these wicked practices will affect every area of your life: you will find yourself experiencing mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional problems.

A lot of people get involved in these things ignorantly and that is why the Word of God explains in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” That is why as a believer walking with the Lord Jesus Christ, you have to understand the spiritual battle that you are in. The way that Satan and his kingdom develop demonic strongholds in your life is by getting you to give them legal access to do so. They will come to you as an angel of light, 2 Corinthians 11:14, making you think that there is nothing wrong with new age spirituality, fortune telling, tarot cards, black magic, or even white magic.

The devil is a liar and the father of lies, John 8:44! Before you know it you are sucked into his spider web harassed by every type of evil spirit that you could think of that you have now invited into your life. Our Heavenly Father has given us all the powerful spiritual warfare strategies and effective methods laid out for us in the Bible. The problem is that a lot of Christians don’t take the time to read it let alone apply it to their lives.

We have to understand that the devil is walking around like a hungry lion seeking someone that he can devour, 1 Peter 5:8. He is looking for entry points to gain the legal right to develop a stronghold in an area of your life that will be very hard to break. I lost almost 4 years of my life because I ignorantly opened the door to some very powerful demons that took me that long to get free from. To say it was a traumatic experience is an understatement!

The Lord had to show me how to get delivered from the forces of darkness that I was facing. Don’t ever underestimate the fact that there is Power in the Name of Jesus Christ. You can overcome any spiritual battle that you might be facing. The blood of Jesus paid for us to have authority over these wicked entities. It will help you gain a full understanding of many kinds of spiritual oppression that the devil uses against us.

I have made it my mission to make sure that I warn as many people as I can to prevent them from getting involved in these practices and others so that they won’t become victims of demonic oppression. If you haven’t read my first four articles on the topic of spiritual oppression, please take the time to read them. The links will be on the end of this article.

Below I am listing some more of the occult practices that can open up the doors to some very wicked and persistent demons:

New Age Spiritualism:

What exactly is New Age Spirituality?

New Age spirituality has to do with spiritual practices involving astrology, Physics, the occult, meditation, alternative medicine and self-actualization routines. It has its root in Eastern mysticism and attempts to bypass your mind’s way of thinking as an attempt to reach enlightenment through what they call the “third eye.” They promote practices to develop psychic awareness of self and cosmic consciousness. They also believe that physical objects like trees carry a spiritual energy.

They make it seem like it’s all about unity, love, health and happiness but that is just a lie from the pit of hell. Remember Satan comes to you as an angel of light, 2 Corinthians 11:14. It is one of the fastest moving deceptions from the enemy and in fact a lot of Christians are involved in these practices. If you are not in tune with the Holy Spirit that will guide you into all truth, John 16:13, you can easily find yourself in a demonic pit struggling to find your way out!

Engaging in any New Age activity can lead to many causes of demonic oppression that you will not recognize until it is already too late. In our world today, it is scattered all over social media and the frightening thing is it growing like wild fire. Heavily promoted by celebrities you can unknowingly get yourself caught in Satan’s open doors which will lead to some strong demonic activity along with powerful demonic strongholds that can be very difficult to break.

God’s Word is definitively clear in 1 John 4:2-3 when John through the Holy Spirit says, “By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.”

If you are confused about a new practice that you are involving yourself in such as New Age, a new church that you are joining, or someone that is speaking words over your life presumably by God; you need to reference these verses of Scripture. Are they pointing everything that they are saying, believing, and practicing back to Jesus Christ? Do they believe in another God other than Jesus? Ask yourself these questions when beginning new activities that you are unfamiliar with.

As Christians we need to be so careful with what we are allowing ourselves to engage in. That is why it is extremely important to get into the Lord’s Word and be led by the Holy Spirit Whom will decipher the truth from the lies. God warned us that this was going to happen, 1 Timothy 4:1 explains “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.”

You do not want to get dragged into something that is going to open some really powerful doors that you can’t easily shut. It will ruin a person’s life! It is not worth risking your mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical health because that is exactly what can happen when you dabble in New Age Spiritualism!

Witchcraft-(sorcery, black magic, white magic-Wiccan):

What is witchcraft?

Witchcraft is the practice of magic (white magic or black magic) involving casting spells, pronouncing curses, and performing rituals in the hopes of connecting with demonic forces to gain power, control, wealth, fame, and many other things. It is extremely dangerous to get involved with any of these practices as it opens doors to some high level demons that will not simply just go away. A lot of times people will get into these practices ignorantly thinking that it’s innocent and that there is nothing wrong with going to a “healer” to help with a medical issue that a doctor cannot solve.

People that are practicing “witches” require you to make a covenant with them unknowingly before they will help you with anything that you are asking for. What you fail to realize is that you are not making a covenant or agreement with them but with the demons that they are being used by. All the devil needs is for you to open that door and him and every evil demonic spirit that you could possibly imagine will come right on in with the hopes of destroying your life.

The Lord has very strong warnings about messing with anything having to do with any of these practices:

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 “There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you.”
2 Chronicles 33:6 “Also he caused his sons to pass through the fire in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom; he practiced soothsaying, used witchcraft and sorcery, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger.”
Leviticus 19:31 “Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits; do not seek after them, to be defiled by them: I am the Lord your God.”
Revelation 21:8 “But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
Galatians 5:20-21 “idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

These are just some of the strong warnings scattered throughout God’s Word both in the New Testament and Old Testament. He is very adamant about how much He despises these practices. Why? As Christians we are to seek council, guidance, healing, direction, and everything else in your life directly from the Lord. We are not supposed to go to a “witch doctor”, a “medium”, a “spiritist”, or anyone or anything else other than the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit is a free gift given to us because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ, a Perfect Sacrifice made on our behalf. The Lord’s Spirit guides us into all truth, John 16:13, so we have no excuse to be led astray. The problem is we don’t read our Bible, we don’t fast, pray, spend intimate time with the Lord and that is how we become deceived.

Sorcery:

Sorcery is the use of incantations, casting spells, speaking curses, and using magic in order to control forces in the spiritual realm which would then transfer over to the physical realm. This is done for many reasons: to gain fortune, control, fame, and several other motives all pointing to person gain. It is extremely dangerous to get involved with anything having to do with magic or invoking evil spirits to aid you in any way.

A lot of people get sucked into these practices thinking that they will receive help from the “healer” that they are going to, but they will always end up leaving worse than before. This is definitely an open door to the devil and his demonic kingdom. We are to worship the Lord our God both in Spirit and Truth (John 4:24) and we are to love Him with all of our heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37). So you don’t want to have anything to do with any other spirit, deity, other god, witch, healer, sangoma, or any other spirit other than the Holy Spirit.

If you do, you can be sure to head down a path of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual destruction. The enemy is not going to come to you as a vicious looking creature trying to attack you. No, he is sneaky, shady, deceptive, and extremely deadly. He will wait until he has you completely bound, then he will go in for the kill. He hates every single one of us and wants nothing more than to ensure that our final destination when we leave this earth is the lake of fire.

Be sober and vigilant (1 Peter 5: 8) remain suited up in the armor that the Lord provided us with that the Apostle Paul describes in Ephesians 6:11-18. You are in a spiritual battle with the kingdom of the devil against the kingdom of God. The Lord gives us all of the tools and powerful methods that we need to keep ourselves free from the hand of the enemy, but you have to be willing to take the time to get into His Word!

Black Magic:

The people involved in this kind of magic use powers from the demonic realm for evil and selfish purposes. It is a wide open door to allow the enemy to come into your life and destroy it. Make no mistake about it; once the devil is done using you, he will eat you up and spit you out. A lot of times people will open this door to get wealth and gain power. Other times they will use these demonic practices to get a person to “fall in love with them” or “get revenge” on someone that has hurt them.

Believe it or not people go to what they call a “witch doctor” to attempt to cure them from a disease that the doctors could not help them with or reverse a curse that they feel like was put on them. The Word of God is completely clear on this topic in Matthew 12:25, “But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.”

Breaking down this verse we can conclude that the Lord is telling us that a kingdom that is coming against itself will not be able to stand. So, in other words you cannot go to a “witch doctor” that operates in the kingdom of darkness and ask him to deliver you from the kingdom of darkness. It literally doesn’t make any sense! What will end up happening is you will leave them more demonically oppressed than when you arrived.

This is not a route that you ever want to take, it will lead you down a demonic pit that will be extremely hard to get out of. Remember the devil is here to kill, steal, and destroy you, John 10:10. That is exactly what will happen to you if you are dabbling in these dark practices. There is only One Name that is above every name and that is the Name of Jesus Christ, He is the Only One that can deliver you from any kind of spiritual oppression regardless of how strong it is.

White magic (Wiccan):

White magic has to do with performing magic by drawing powers from what they call mother earth, the moon, stars, the sea, angels, other elements, etc. They see themselves as “doing good” for others versus black magic that wants to cause harm to people. This type of practice can be very destructive because of the cloak that is camouflaging these activities. The devil definitely uses this scheme time and time again to lure innocent people in making them feel like they are helping the people around them.

The devil is a liar! The powers that these Wiccans are drawing from are the same powers that Witches practicing black magic are using, demons! There is no way to get around it, the Lord is extremely clear when He specifies that you are to dabble in NO form of magic, divination, soothsaying, witchcraft, or sorcery of any kind, 2 Chronicles 33:6. These are huge open doors to spiritual oppression that will have you so bound that it will be difficult to get out.

The enemy will trick people into thinking that they are led by what they call “spirit guides” when in actually they are entertaining unclean spirits. The devil is very crafty; he is not called a serpent for no reason. A lot of Christians are falling for this demonic deception because of the lack of knowledge, Hosea 4:6. You have to read and study to show yourself approved so that you can accurately divide the Word of God, 2 Timothy 2:15. If it is any other spirit that you are gaining your information from than the Holy Spirit, it is not from God. If it is not glorifying the Lord Jesus Christ, it is not of God. We have to be extremely careful that we do not get deceived as these dangerous practices are increasing as we speak.

Conclusion

Whether you realize it or not, we are in a spiritual battle that is going on daily The Kingdom of Light versus the Kingdom of Darkness. There are some extremely powerful evil forces in the demonic realm that can destroy your life if you open up those doors. Make no mistake about it; there is no power greater than the Power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He defeated every power, every principality, every dark force, and Satan himself when He died on the cross and rose again. He made a public spectacle of them all openly, Colossians 2:15.

It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or what lies the devil tries to whisper in your ear, you are never too far gone from the love of Jesus Christ. Psalm 139:7-8 expresses His love beautifully when David says, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.” It doesn’t matter how far you feel from the Lord, He will snatch you out of the pit that you are in and restore, renew, and purify you. All you have to do is call on Jesus’ Name and He will answer.

In order for you to overcome the powers of the enemy that are coming against you or will come against you because of the doors that you have opened up you are going to need the Lord’s divine power. You cannot fight this kind of wickedness on your own. So how does one begin that process? First, you have to accept Jesus Christ into your heart as your Lord and Savior and truly mean it Romans 10:9-10. You will have to repent and renounce (turn away) from all of the wicked things that you are involved in, throw it all away and never look back. You will need to get into the Word of God and allow it to wash you and renew your mind, Romans 12:2. Allow the Holy Spirit to be your Guide because He is the One that will lead you into all truth, John 16:13.

There was a time in my life when I was so demonically oppressed mentally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally that I didn’t know if I was going to make it through, but God! If He did it for me He can do it for you too, you are never out of His reach!
