One of the most important things that born again believers should strive to do daily is spend time with the Lord. Going to church on a Sunday afternoon is just simply not enough. It is vital that we spend time in the Word of God and spend time in prayer, building our relationship with the Lord.

What that does is allows us to know the Lord on an intimate level and not a level that is just superficial. Just like we need to spend time with our spouse or children, we need to build our relationship with God daily. Can you imagine if you spoke to your wife or husband once a week and the rest of the week you don’t speak a word to them. That is exactly how the Lord feels when we neglect Him and treat Him like a spare tire, using Him only when we absolutely need to.

God wants a relationship with every single one of us, but one thing He will not do is violate our free will. When He created us, He gave us the option to decide whether or not we would love Him. He will never force us to. He did however provide us with one of the most powerful Scriptures in the entire Word of God. Matthew 7:23 details, “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!” One of the most dangerous places to be is a place where your Father doesn’t truly know you because you failed to build that relationship with Him, don’t let that be you!
