He that is in you is Greater-He gives you the power to transform

He that is in You is Greater-He gives you the Power to transform

One of the most misunderstood and underestimated Persons of the Godhead (the Holy Trinity) is the Holy Spirit. He is the One that comes into the life of every believer of Christ the moment that you receive Salvation. He is the One that will guide you and lead you into absolute Truth, John 16:13. He is that still small voice that convicts you when you are heading in the wrong direction.

There are so many roles that the Spirit of God plays including: the Power to be a bold witness for Christ, empowers us to fight against the devil’s tactics, helps us pray the perfect prayers to God the Father, helps us renew our minds through Scripture, and so much more. What we also know beyond a shadow of a doubt is that the Holy Spirit will not come into agreement with anything outside of Scripture and will always point every believer back to Jesus Christ, John 15:26.

That is why the enemy tries everything in his power to prevent us from understanding the true Power of the Spirit of God. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself stated that it was better that He go away so that He can leave us with the Helper. John 16:7 details, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”

Here we can definitively see that the Lord is telling us that it is better for us that we have our Guide leading us into absolute Truth, John 14:26. He knew the amount of warfare that we would face especially considering the fact that He disarmed the devil and his entire kingdom making a spectacle of them openly, Colossians 2:15. The enemy knows that he can no longer just keep believers bound but we have the authority over all of his power, Luke 10:19.

You best believe he is going to come at every Christian full force in attempt to steal, kill, and destroy, John 10:10. That is why it is crucial that we know our authority in Jesus Christ! The devil is a defeated foe, and he knows that he is but he doesn’t want you to realize that. When we walk out our life following the Biblical laws found in the Word of God to the best of our abilities leaving no “place” for the enemy, he knows that there is not much that he can do!

One of the roles of the Holy Spirit is to aid us in our transformation process. Remember, the moment that you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) the old you has passed away. The Spirit of God will convict you of sin (John 16:8), bring Scriptures to your remembrance when you need them (John 14:26), and help you renew your mind, Romans 12:2.

He is One of the most powerful warfare weapons that you will ever have against the schemes and the wiles of the devil. Never forget that “He” that is in you will always be greater than he that is of this world. Let’s take a look at a passage of Scripture that details how the Holy Spirit helps us regenerate and renew our minds!

Titus 3:5

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.”

Before we can get into how we become transformed as believers of Christ let’s take a look at what the Apostle Paul is revealing to us what we are being transformed from. Titus 3:3 states, “For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.”

Here are some passages of Scripture that break this down even further. Colossians 3:5-10 “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.”

Some of the key words that are found in these verses of Scripture are the words, “sons of disobedience” or ones that follow the enemy. Then Paul states that we were all once living a lifestyle of sin but now that we are in Christ, we are renewed in knowledge which is pertaining to the Word of God and the image of Christ.

When we lived a lifestyle that was not pleasing to the Lord what that did was give the devil legal access to create chaos. God’s Word is a book of Law that every believer should abide by, Joshua 1:8. When we don’t and we live our lives in willful blatant sin, we are giving the enemy control over those areas of our lives.

One thing that we need to understand is the fact that we cannot defeat the devil within our own strength, but the “He” living on the inside of a Christian gives us the power to overcome! He will help us during those moments of vulnerability when the struggle becomes too much to bear alone! That is why it is so important that we allow the Spirit of God to do a work in us from the inside out regenerating and renewing our entire frame of mind.

Let’s dig a little deeper into the primary passage of Scripture that I am highlighting found in Titus 3:5, “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.”

The words “the washing” being us is the Greek word “loutron” which means: the act of bathing. The words “of regeneration” being used is the Greek word “palingenesia” which means: new birth, reproduction, renewal, recreation, the word denotes the restoration of a thing to its pristine state, and its renovation. The word “renewing” being used is the Greek word “anakainōsis” which means: renewal, renovation, and a complete change for the better. This is a continual process.

So when we piece all of these words together we can determine that one of the most important roles of the Holy Spirit is to wash us clean, a new birth in Christ transforming us to our most pure state. It is a renovation and complete change for the better! One thing to note is the fact that this is a constant process and not one that happens overnight. I remember when I first became a believer in Christ the Lord first dealt with my mouth and how profane it was! As I grew as a Christian, He dealt with deeper things like unforgiveness.

This renovation will continue on until you are reunited with Christ. The Lord will continue to mature you as a believer molding you more and more into His image. The reason why this is so important is because the more obedient that you are to the Word of God, His ways, following the guidelines found in the Scriptures, the less of a stronghold the enemy will have in your life.

We have the choice to choose to live our lives pleasing to the Lord or a life dedicated to devil, there is no in between. Romans 6:16 details it perfectly as Paul states, “Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?”

The Apostle Paul is making it very clear that sin will always lead to death, Romas 6:23. That is not what the Lord wants for us, he wants us to live a life and a life in abundance, John 10:10. That is why the Holy Spirit is such a significant factor in every believer’s life because He gives us the Power to transform and to renew our minds into the mind of Christ, 1 Corinthians 2:16.

Going to church on a Sunday afternoon is not going to help you shift your mindset and the enemy knows that. In fact, he doesn’t mind that you go to listen to a sermon once a week as long as you aren’t reading your Word, developing your relationship with the Lord, and spending time in prayer. He knows that those spiritual disciplines are what are really going to change a person from the inside out!

You are in a daily spiritual battle whether you know it or not and the more obedient you are to the Word of God, the less opportunities the devil is given to invade your space. We are to put on the full Armor of God and STAND against the wiles of the devil and not back down when the warfare intensifies, Ephesians 6:10-12.

Conclusion:

I cannot stress to you enough the significance of understanding the role that the Holy Spirit plays in your life as a believer of Christ. He is the One that is our Helper and our Guide leading us to absolute Truth. He convicts us of sin when we are veering off track and warns us of danger ahead seen or unseen. He gives us the Power to hope, the Power to be a witness to your unsaved loved ones, He gives us the Power to have freedom from the enemy and will hold a standard against him when He needs to.

Those are just a few examples of how the Spirit of God is a warfare weapon against the schemes and the wiles of the devil. The enemy has one goal in mind and that is to steal, kill, and destroy every single one of us, John 10:10. However we have the Power of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us and “He” will always be greater than he that is in this world!
