Positive Quote for the Week-Let Christ be the reason for the season

“Do not let the cares of this life detour you from the true reason for the season and that is Jesus Christ and what He did for us!” Erica Willis

It never fails, this time of year brings out feelings of loneliness, sadness, sorrow, grief, insecurities, low self-esteem, etc. Instead of it being a time to truly celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, many believers reflect on the money that they don’t have to buy this gift or that gift, decorations needed to be put up  on the inside and outside of their houses, and a Christmas list of money being spent unnecessarily.

Unfortunately, many people are afflicted with high levels of oppression and depression during the holidays. We need to make sure that we don’t allow the enemy to get into our heads shooting arrows at us preventing us from truly enjoying every day including the holidays! The Lord is very clear in Psalm 118:24 and it states, “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”

God expects us to rejoice and be glad every day. The fact that we have breath in our bodies is a blessing all by itself. The presents that we worry about, the food that we have to buy, the extras trips that we need to spend money on to see our families is all irrelevant. What the Christmas season is really about is the celebration of our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ!

Anything that is detouring you from what the season is truly about is the enemy trying to distract you from the actual reason that we are celebrating Christmas to begin with. Don’t give in but instead use this holiday timeframe to reflect on the Lord, your relationship with the Lord, the time that you put aside for the Lord, whether or not you can clearly hear the Lord’s voice, etc. These are the things that genuinely matter and when you put Him first, everything else will fall right in line.

Scriptures on Christmas

Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.”

Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Michah 5:2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.”

Luke 2:11 “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”
