Positive Quote for the Week-spite leads to the spirit of offense

“Being a spiteful person will lead to the stronghold of offense, let it go!” Erica Willis

If revenge, retaliation, and vengeance is on your mind consistently pertaining to anyone that has said or done something to you, you might want to investigate those emotions. We are all going to have moments when someone does something to us and our immediate reaction is to strike back, but if this is an ongoing theme in your life the enemy might have something to do with it.

A way that you can conclude whether or not you are filled with spite is if you just can’t let things go. Years have gone by and you still have built up animosity for someone that offended you and they could be living in the same house as you. Not only do you want to make sure that they pay, you want to make sure that you make them pay as much as possible. One time just isn’t enough!

The devil loves to take all of these adverse emotions that you are feeling and multiply them. His goal is to make sure that you are in such a state of offense that you can’t focus on anything else including the things of God. Trust and believe, he will plant thoughts in your head, place people in your direction, and hinder you with situations that will invite the spirit of offense to come in and create chaos.

We have to be very cautious about taking matters into our own hands as the body of Christ. The Lord is extremely clear on this matter, in Romans 12:19-21 the Apostle Paul writes, “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Here we can see that the Lord is letting us know that we are not to repay the people that have wronged us, rather we are to give it to Him to handle it, and He will!

Scriptures on having a positive mindset

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”

Proverbs 15:13 “A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.”

Romans 12:12 “rejoicing in hope, patient  in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.”
