The Ministry of the Holy Spirit-Who He is

The Holy Spirit is not a mist, a dove, or a made-up thing, not even close! He is the third person of the God head (the trinity) and is just as important as God the Father and God the Son! In fact, Romans 8:9 reveals to us just how significant the Holy Spirit is as it states, “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.”

The Apostle Paul discloses to us that the Holy Spirit is literally the determining factor in whether or not a person belongs to the Lord. Remember, at that moment of salvation, you receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit that will live on the inside of you. The Word of God goes into detail in 1 Corinthians 3:16, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” Another example is in 2 Timothy 1:14 “That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.”

The Holy Spirit plays such a significant role in our walk as believers of Jesus Christ. So much so that Jesus Himself made it clear that it is to our benefit that He dies and goes back to the Father in Heaven. John 16:7 discloses, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”

For some reason the Spirit of God gets overlooked and is oftentimes misunderstood. We need to fully understand that He is a Mighty Power and a Fire that helps us fight the devil and his schemes! In our own strength we are no match for the enemy but through our faith in what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross at Calvary and through the power of the Holy Spirit we can prevail against any tactic and every device.

When I was going through a time of heavy spiritual warfare not knowing which way to go, the Holy Spirit was there to lead me and guide me into absolute truth. He is the One that is giving us the strategies, tactics, and Scriptures to help us get through the demonic attacks sent by the devil and his kingdom.

He is the Power here on Earth to help us be a witness for Jesus Christ. Acts 1:8 reveals, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

When you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, He will give you the boldness to proclaim the gospel with no reservations. A lot of times the enemy will try to silence your voice making you think that you aren’t saved enough, clean enough, or sanctified enough to tell others about Jesus Christ.

The devil is a liar! You can begin to tell other people about our Lord and Savior at any time! In fact, most born-again believers are more zealous for God at the moment of Salvation! The Holy Spirit is that driving force within you giving you the courage and confidence to be brave when it comes to your faith!

I cannot say enough about how essential the Spirit of God is to the life of a believer of Jesus Christ. I know when I was steeped deep in heavy demonic oppression, it was the Holy Spirit that taught me how to fight back with my double-edged Sword (God’s Word)! I truly don’t know if I would have made it through without the Holy Spirit leading and guiding me out of the pit that I was in!

To put things into perspective, Jesus thought it was better for Him to go back up to Heaven and send us the Holy Spirit (John 16:7), we need to really pay attention to that and understand why. In the up-and-coming articles I am going to dive deeper into the ministry of the Holy Spirit and how important He really is to the life of every believer!

Conclusion:

The Holy Spirit is one of the most underestimated and misunderstood Members of the God Head. He is critical in the life of a believer of Jesus Christ. He is the One that gives us the power to overcome the snares of the devil, He guides us and leads us into all Truth, He helps us proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ with boldness, and so much more!

These up-and-coming articles I am going to break down the ministry of the Holy Spirit regarding the life of a Christian. He is vital when it comes to our walk with Jesus Christ. He gives us discernment when it comes to the spiritual realm and in these last days, we are going to need every bit of discernment that we can get!
